ABOUT ME |
My name is Ms. Em and I love teaching art!
My goal as an art teacher is to develop a creative community of life-long learners by teaching students to communicate using a well-developed visual language. I do this by helping them make personal connections between their world and their artwork, develop strong habits of mind, and gain mastery with a variety of tools and materials. Originally from New York, I moved to Boston to study painting and art education at Boston University. After student teaching in Chelsea and Revere, I was hired to teach K-8 art in Brookline. From 2020-22 I took a leave of absence from teaching to pursue my MFA in Painting. In addition to teaching in the public schools, I have taught in after school programs and college-level portfolio-building courses. I em excited to return to the classroom again this fall for my eleventh year of teaching. I am primarily a 2D artist and like to paint, draw, and sew. When I'm not making art, I like to cook, travel, read, play basketball, and ride my bike. My favorite ice cream flavor is Coffee Oreo from J.P. Licks. |
